Course Objective

Target Audience

All personnel working in area classification studies can attend the preparatory courses. A qualified
engineering degree personnel who are familiar with the process and the equipment along with safety,
electrical, mechanical can attend IECEx CoPC assessment. IECEx Ex 001 certification of competence is
a pre-requestee to attend IECEx Ex 002 assessment.

The course is based on the competence requirements described in OD 504

  • Properties of explosive gases and vapours
  • Properties of combustible dusts
  • Hazardous area classification procedures and techniques
  • Gathering and analysis of data relevant to the explosive hazard
  • Gas groups
  • Temperature ratings / classes of explosion-protected electrical equipment
  • Documentation of the hazardous areas zones
  • Overview of explosion-protection techniques

Prerequisites

Competence in this unit requires a degree, diploma or equivalent in a technical subject.

The area classification should be carried out by those who understand the relevance and significance of properties of flammable materials and those who are familiar with the process and the equipment along with safety, electrical, mechanical, and other qualified engineering personnel.
 

Assessment

Capeserve Energy will assist in enrolling the participants in Ex 002 assessments conducted by an Approved IECEx ExCB as per the participant’s interest & request. Fees to be advised.
 

Qualification & Endorsement

All successful participants who pass the assessment shall be awarded with IECEx Certificate of Competence for Ex 002 by an Approved IECEx ExCB

Send your application by email by applying, you will receive the status "Applicant"

Review

Exert Certification will review your work and training record. If the review is successful, your status will change to "candidate" and you can sign up for assessments.

Assessment

Assessment can be conducted at our training centres or the theory tests of all units can be conducted remotely. If your assessment is successful, and all fees are paid, your status will be changed to "certified person"

IECEx Certificate

Candidates fulfilling all requirements will be awarded an IECEx CoPC valid for five years. Certificates can be viewed online at www.iecex.com.

Re-Certification

You will need to apply for renewal of your certificate. Depending on if there have been changes to the relevant IEC 60079-standards, and depending on your work history during the past years, the Certification Body will decide if you will be offered a partial or full reassessment.
