Ex 000 – Basic knowledge & awareness to enter hazardous area site.
To enter a hazardous area, technical and non-technical personnel must have a basic understanding of the potential hazards present and the necessary precautions to take to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries. This includes knowledge of the types of flammable gases, liquids, or dust that may be present, as well as an understanding of the electrical equipment that is used in the area. Capeserve Energy offers Basic Knowledge and Awareness training to enter a classified hazardous area. The Basic hazardous area training is crucial for ensuring:
- Safety: Hazardous areas can be dangerous and pose a risk to the health and safety of individuals who work or come into contact with them. Basic hazardous area training provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to stay safe in these environments.
- Emergency response: In an emergency such as gas detection, individuals who have received basic hazardous area training will be better equipped to respond appropriately and evacuate safely.
- Risk reduction: By providing individuals with basic hazardous area training, employers and organizations can reduce the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities in hazardous environments.

Upon completion of the Basic Knowledge and Awareness training, participants of the training programme are encouraged to enrol to IECEx Unit Ex 000 – Ex Facility Orientation Certificate (EFOC), which demonstrates that the person understands the nature of the risks associated with hazardous areas, the limitations on devices allowed into a hazardous area, occupational health and safety responsibilities and procedures related to hazardous areas. The Ex 000 unit can be applied in any job function performed in a hazardous area and does not require any prerequisites.
